About the Journal
Journal of Sustainability in Mechanical and Materials Design(SMMD) is an international, open access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research at the forefront of sustainable engineering. The journal focuses on innovative strategies, methodologies, and applications that integrate sustainability principles into the design of mechanical systems, components, and advanced materials.
Our scope covers a broad range of topics, including but not limited to: lifecycle assessment (LCA), eco-design, green manufacturing processes, sustainable material development (e.g., bio-based, recyclable, and low-energy materials), energy-efficient design, durability and longevity engineering, and circular economy models in mechanical and materials engineering.
All articles are freely accessible online immediately upon publication under the Creative Commons Attribution license (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted sharing and adaptation of the work provided proper credit is given. The journal employs a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the integrity and quality of the published research. Published semiannually, Sustainability in Mechanical and Materials Design is committed to a rapid and fair review process.
The journal adheres to the highest ethical standards in publishing, as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). To guarantee permanent access to the scholarly record, the journal's content is archived in the PKP Preservation Network (PN). Authors retain the copyright of their published work.
